私の　ふゆ休み！
金曜日に　うちに　かえります。くるまで　サウスベンドから　シカゴまで　いって　ひこうきで　シカゴから　ボストンまで　いきます。クリスマスの日に　私の　おばあさんは　りょうりを　して　大きくて　おいしい　ばんごはんを　たべます。　まい日　おきて、おきて、あさごはを　たべて、ゲームを　して、ともだちと　あって、ゆっくりします。たのしくて　あまり　べんきょいしません。

NOOO, JAPAN!!! NOT THE POOR WHALES!

So, as you probably know, Japan announced that they will take up the practice of whaling again for "scientific research."  I put "scientific research" in quotes because that is the only legal way people are allowed to go out an kill whales.  In 1993 there was an international ban on the whaling practice because the whale populations were declining so rapidly.  However, a loophole in the ban was that for the sake of research people would be allow to kill some whales.  Japan was abusing this loophole and quit whaling for a few years in the late 2000s/2010s, but recently, they said they are aiming to collect 333 minke whales for again, "scientific research."  I think this is just their response to the fact that whale populations have been on the rise so it is more feasible to go whaling again.  Whales have oils that are very valuable, which is primarily why they are worth hunting.  But, when the whaling practices in Japan were put on hold, it was likely due to the fact that there were so few whales it became less profitable and imprudent to hunt whales with such low populations.  As you can see the ship has the word "research" on it to justify their whale hunting.

Call me a tree hugger, nature-loving hippie, but I don't know how you could look at these images and not be disturbed!

サンクスギビングの休み

Although I stayed on campus for サンクスギビングの休み, さびしくて　つまらない　ありませんでした。キャンパスニ　ともだちが　多いでした。North学食に　ひるごはんを　たべに　いきました。ごはんわ　おいしいでした！

We also took advantage of Black Friday sales.  マポいさんと　サウスベンドの　thrift-shopsに　かいものを　しに　いきました。We bought ugly Christmas sweaters for a club in which I participate.  The club sold these sweaters that we bought really cheap (<$5) for $15 and we sold out in 30 minutes!  Here are some examples of really ugly Christmas sweaters that people would buy for fun:

The club, GlobeMed, works with an organization, the Population Education Development Association, on malaria prevention in Laos.  I actually went there this summer.  This is a picture of me with some other Notre Dame students and the leaders of the organization, Mr. Santi and Thip.

週末は　いそがしいでした。For example, 土曜日に　ジョギングを　して、としょかんに　べんきょうしに　いって、りょうしんと　でんわで　はなして、しんぶんを　よんで、ともだちと　あそびました。

Overall, I had a great サンクスギビングの休み!!!

私の　ともだちは　ハウさんです。She's super into cosplay!

So I don't have much to say, but cosplay can be tons of fun, and if anybody knows that it is my high school friend, ハウさん.  She is studying art at Virginia Commonwealth University, so naturally she's an expert at makeup and cosplay.  Many of her cosplay costume are meant to imitate Japanese anime characters.  Here are a couple of pictures of her dressed up!

日本の　アパート　vs。アメリカの　うち

日本の　アパートニ　炊飯器が　あります。でも、アメリカの　うちに　炊飯器が　ありません。私は　あまり　御飯を　たべません。

日本の　トイレは　おもしろいです。そして、私の　トイレ　つまらないです。(Japanese toilet have like a control panel that makes the toilet do things whereas American ones are boring and just flush and that's it.) 　日本の　アパートは　まどが　あります。そして　へやは　あかるくて　きれいです。私の　うちも　です。日本の　アパートは　せまいです。でも、私の　うちは　ひろいです。日本の　アパートと　私の　うちは　ばんごはんの　テーブルと　テレビと　ソファが　あります。　テレビは　ソファの　まえに　あります。

わたし：そうですね、きょうとが　あります。でも、まち　あまり　ゆうめいじゃありますせよ。
マレチネズさん：ああ、そですか。きょうとは　なんですか？

わたし：レストランが　あります。レストランがの　おなめえは　ほんけ　おわりやです。
マレチネズさん：いい　フードですね。

わたし：はい。そして、レストランは　大きい　たてものです。
マレチネズさん：いいですね。

どようびの　くじはんに　エクアドルに　いきます。おなめえの　まちは　キートです。キートに　コンビニと　カフェと　レストランと　びょえいん　あります。わたしの　いがくの　せんこうは　です。そして　わたしは　エクアドルに　びょえいんで　はたらきました。　びょえいんは　とても　きれ否です。ろくじに　おきました。そして　あさごはんを　しちに　たべました。大きい　火山です。そして　火山に　いちました。ちゃいろいと　りっぱな　火山です。にちようびに　うちに　かえりました。
